Deciphering between weeds and seedlings
So, I asked Belinda this question. For beginner gardeners like myself one of the most exciting things is watching your little seedlings pop up!….until you realize it may just be a weed…and then the fear sets in. Do you pick it? How would you ever know what it is? In fact, I’m friends with a now experienced gardener who told me that in her first year of gardening thought the weeds were her seedlings. She was so excited about her large garden…until she lifted up the leaves and saw all of her fledgling seedings underneath her now overgrown weeds. ACK! Every first time gardeners worst fear, right? So, after my corn (I thought) (may have) popped up I couldn’t tell if it was a weed since they looked like large weeds (after all corn is a GRASS so it may look like a weed grass!) Enter, my buddy Belinda from Home Gardens To Go who helped me learn the tips for knowing whether or not it is a weed…

Here is what I learned in my own experience (this wasn’t done in my square foot box-it was done in a box that was already there with dirt…and let me tell you it has 500x more weeds then my actual boxes…)
