Food Storage Back to Basics: Wheat-A Food Storage Overview

  1. I was wondering if there is a way to tell if wheat is still good. I have some #10 cans that haven't been opened for more than 20 years of wheat, white flour and cornmeal. I just don't want to start cooking with it and the flour not rise. Thanks

  2. Most likely the flour and corn meal aren't any good…those only last for 7
years. Wheat is good for 30+ years so chances are your wheat is still good.
If you want to try it out make some blender wheat pancakes and see if they
taste good. It's an easy recipe that will tell you if your wheat is still
    good.

  3. I just wanted to say that I appreciate you running your “back to basics” series this summer. I am just learning about food storage and have found your videos to be so helpful. I just wish there was an LDS cannery close. The nearest one is 500 miles away.

  4. I have had your book for about a year now and just really started using it and WOW! Thank you so much! The reason I started was 2 yrs ago I bought all of our storage and am just now seeing things expire, so I'm diving in and trying to use it up. I am so excited about the results, your recipies are easy to make and understand and the end result is always amazing! Thank you Thank you! I have one question not sure if you know but I just moved to Phoenix AZ from Eagle Mountain Utah and am trying to squeeze my foodstorage into a house with no basement. Can I keep my wheat in buckets in the garage? Thanks!

  5. It probably is hotter than optimal in your Arizona garage. All that means
is that you'll need to rotate through your food faster. For more

  6. Have you abandoned your blog? Jeff
