Does your family like those Quaker Instant Packets of Oatmeal? Then they will love this! It’s the same idea and your family can even make their very own flavors! Yeah, you heard me…you could actually make Oatmeal fun again (was it ever fun?…oh well….it is now!) This is actually one of my very first posts and videos but since this month is all about surviving back to school-it is definitely worth revisiting to make sure everyone has seen it! I discovered it on the new cans for oats at the cannery and decided to try it. It is the BEST oatmeal I’ve ever tasted!!! It takes more ingredients than just oatmeal, salt, and water so watch this video on how to minimize the mess and time it takes to make this for your family each morning. Your kids can make single servings or you can double (triple or quadruple) the the measurements and make it on your stove for your entire family. If you’ve sworn off oatmeal or love it just as much as I do…this recipe is for YOU!!

MAKING OATMEAL FROM YOUR HOMEMADE OATMEAL MIX
(Makes 1 serving)
1/2 C. Oatmeal Mix (I know I said 1/4 C. on the video, I meant 1/2 C.)
1 C. Water
Small handful of Raisins (Optional) You could also use dehydrated apples from the cannery just break them into smaller pieces
Mix Oatmeal mix and raisins (or other dehydrated fruit) with water and microwave for 2 minutes. If you need to make more of this for a larger family, simply boil the water first in a pot on the stove and then stir in the oats and let sit for 1 minute.

Thank you for the mix recipe. I love craisins so I put those in instead of raisins. Delicious!
Not being American, whenyou say oatmeal do you mean oats or is it powder?
Love your blog and it has helped us alot over here.

I cannot drink milk products, what’s your thoughts on adding powdered soy protein in place of the powdered milk?
I looooove your blog. You are amazing. Thanks for the awesome Baking Mixes handout.
I made the dry mix yesterday, and cooked this on the stove for breakfast, and it was the creamiest, best oatmeal I have ever had! Thanks for sharing, this will be a staple in our houes ( and a good way to rotate through our bags of powdered milk!)
Just FYI…on the PDF I downloaded, it has the brownie/cake mixes pages in there twice.
