Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup made from Magic Mix

Welcome to my newly re-designed website! I hope you notice how functional it is now and hopefully the information will be easier for you and your friends to get to! Anyway…on to the good stuff. Making condensed cream of mushroom is just as easy and better tasting (I think!). I also love the big chunks of mushroom (if you don’t, just cut up your pieces) because it makes everything look more gourmet!

Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup

1 C. Magic Mix
1 4.5 oz. can Mushroom pieces and stems (SAVE THE WATER!)
1/4 C. Water
Dash of Onion Salt
1-2 drops Kitchen Bouqet, optional (check the previous video to see what this is)

Combine all ingredients over medium heat. Stir constantly until mixture begins to bubble and thicken. Remove from heat immediately.

Now for a recipe to try with the soup….my favorite…

Salisbury Steak!

4 Hamburger Patties
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
3 C. prepared rice

Brown hamburger patties over high heat on both sides. Top with mushroom soup and lower heat to low. Cook for 10-15 minutes or until inside of patties is no longer pink. Remove patties from pan. Mix soup and meat drippings for gravy (if you want it thicker, add in a little flour and water or cornstarch and water). Server over hot rice.

Thanks so much for the recipes. I am loving powdered milk. I’ve made your sweetend condensed milk with much success and last night I made a version of your chicken noodle soup with magic mix condensed soup. It was so delicious. It’s wonderful to have some new tricks up my sleeve.

What a great recipe! This was my first try at your magic mix and I have to say that I quite love it. I rarely buy condensed soups because they all contain MSG. So I often miss out on some pretty yummy recipes that call for them. Not anymore! I am thrilled to have found your website AND this delicious recipe! Thank you for all your work! I will definitely be trying some of your other recipes next.

Thanks for an amazing web site! I’m enjoying learning how to use stored foods. Do you have a recipe that would be like the “golden mushroom” soup sold in cans? It’s our favorite–especially over burgers!

Is there a typo in the is recipe?  Both of the other cream soup recipies (chicken and celery) call for 3/4 cup of liquid but this one only says 1/4 cup.

Just to clarify…your recipe replaces 1 “condensed” can of soup, right? You treat it just like the “canned’ soup, in that you need to add a can of milk or water to make it soup. Is that correct?

I just made the condensed cream of mushroom soup. It was good, but it had a very strong flour taste. Any tips on how to combat that?
