poppyseed

While we are talking about sweet salad dressings perfect on salads featuring fruit, I would be completely remiss to not share the world’s best Poppyseed Salad dressing!  You know that one that everyone buys in the store for upwards of $5 a bottle?  Yeah, doesn’t even compare to this one!  It’s so delicious and so much cheaper, less than $1 a “bottle!”  It’s so good, that I actually thought about giving this as a neighborhood gift last Christmas.  Now if you don’t have poppyseeds, don’t fret, they aren’t that expensive and if you look around you can get a great deal on them.  And then you can make lemon poppyseed muffins, and those yummy Baked Hawaiian Sandwiches I shared with you last year.  And again, a great and easy salad to pair this with is just a simple salad with canned peaches, feta, spinach, red onion, and nuts.  And of course, any salad with strawberries or any other yummy fruit!  And, perhaps the best thing about this salad dressing is that you don’t need to grate an onion, like it says.  Simply use your dry onion flakes and save your grater and your knuckles from the hassle!

Okay, here is also where we need to talk appropriate bottles for doing vinaigrettes.  The bottle you choose definitely needs to not leak because you will be shaking the bejeebers out of that bottle to work the oil, vinegar, and spices together.  I use mason jars and am saving my pennies for this beauty!  It helps keep you from dumping the entire jar of dressing on your salad (not going to lie, it’s happened a few times to me…whoops!) and makes it really easy to shake and store.  Let me introduce you to the OXO Salad Dressing Shaker.  It’s awesome and can be purchased from Amazon for only $14.95

  1. instead of the the dried onion flakes, I want to use onion powder. 1/2 tsp? less? What do you suggest?

    1. I would start with 1/4 t. You can always add in more to your liking.
