greek

So many of you know that I grew up in Southern California and in Southern California there was this very popular restaurant called Oscar’s.  They had the BEST greek salad dressing.  I’ve pretty much spent most of my adult life wishing and dreaming that I could recreate that salad dressing.  Well, I’ve found it.  This makes the BEST greek salad dressing.  My whole family agrees!  I made a greek salad with this dressing for a big family shin dig where my brother was making homemade gyros.  Of course, I couldn’t let my brother get all of the fame that night!  (Can you tell we’re a competitive family…my brothers really keep me on my toes when it comes to cooking.)  Anyway, needless to say it was a HUGE hit and the salad was gone in minutes.  Which is really saying something because my brother made fabulous gyros with homemade pita bread that night!  Anyway, if you have any sort of affinity for greek salads, this salad needs to be in your arsenal of salad dressing recipes.  Plus, it’s entirely from food storage!  Just oil, vinegar and spices!

Okay, here is also where we need to talk appropriate bottles for doing vinaigrettes.  The bottle you choose definitely needs to not leak because you will be shaking the bejeebers out of that bottle to work the oil, vinegar, and spices together.  I use mason jars and am saving my pennies for this beauty!  It helps keep you from dumping the entire jar of dressing on your salad (not going to lie, it’s happened a few times to me…whoops!) and makes it really easy to shake and store.  Let me introduce you to the OXO Salad Dressing Shaker.  It’s awesome and can be purchased from Amazon for only $14.95

  1. Do you just use white vinegar? Is Apple cider vinegar too strong for this recipe?

    1. Yes. I only use white. It’s a strong spice filled dressing.
