YEAH!! You’ve asked for more recipes for magic mix, so this week will be dedicated to the magic of magic mix! Did you know you can make your own condensed soups (like what you get in a can and use in casseroles)? Yes, you can! And the best part is, that it’s practically just as easy as opening a can…and much cheaper! Plus, you gain control over what you’re putting in it…and of course rotating your food storage. I’ve found that homemade condensed soups are SO MUCH BETTER than the store bought stuff. You’ll be amazed. Make sure you check out the video to see just how simple it really is and keep coming back for more recipes for making your own condensed soups! 1. Wow! Great new website. I made Dawn B. recipe for chicken pot pie tonight and used this cream of chicken substitute. It was awesome! It tasted pretty close to real cream of chicken soup, except without that weird canned taste. This recipe has just opened up a whole array of food choices for us. Thanks! I do need to make more magic mix though since I only have about a half a cup left.

  7. I finally have a can rotator. I remember a recipe book that used only canned foods, but I can’t find it. Do you know where I can get receipes using a variety of canned goods so I continually rotate my supply? The recipes I use now are mostly fresh ingredients with one or two canned items. In a emergency, without use of fresh foods, I want recipes that use only canned items along with my dehydrated foods. Thank you in advance for help.

  10. Claudia,

In an emergency you don’t want to start using all NEW recipes. Take the recipes you have now and interchange the fresh fruits and vegetables for those you have canned and dehydrated or freeze dried.

  13. Hi, I just found your site–it's great! I was wondering, can you store this condensed soup in the fridge or freezer? And for how long until it goes bad? Same thing with the magic mix–how long before it goes bad in the fridge? Thanks!

  14. I wouldn't make the condensed soup too much ahead of time. I like that you
can make it as you need it. The magic mix lasts as long as butter lasts in
    the fridge or freezer.

  15. I finally tried the condensed soup today in my hawaiian haystacks. (My first time using Magic Mix. Yay!) I was impressed how easy it was. As I was tasting it and adding spices I noticed the butter taste was pretty strong, but once you serve it with all the fixings I couldn't tell it was in there. And it passed the “Hubby Test” which is a big indicator of how good it was. Thanks so much for sharing. I use a ton of recipes and ideas from your blog. (The tortillas are still my favorite.)

  16. Can you freeze the condensed soup for use later?

  17. I don't know that it freezes real well. But the good news is, it's just as
easy to make as thaw in your microwave!

  18. For the technologically challenged…..how do I print the recipes without having to print all the adds & other stuff? Love your site and all the information. Thanks.

      1. You can also just highlight what you want to print. Then when you hit print and the little window pops up hit print selection and only what you have highlighted will print

  20. I would love to know how to make my own condensed cheese soup (like Campbell’s). Any suggestions on how to adapt Magic Mix? Thanks

    1. Yes, follow the cream of chicken (minus the broth-instead use water) and
      throw in some cheese.

  22. Question… Can this Magic Mix be made using food storage butter powder, canning it and when using the product, adding the water needed for the butter along with the liquid needed for the desired “soup”?    I am celiac, so have to use another form of flour, and want to use recipes that don’t require I shop for butter, for instance.  Thanks!

  23. What’s also cool about this is that there is no MSG in it.  I have a few friends allergic to MSG and all the cream of x type things from almost every company have MSG in them.

  24. How do you store your cream of chicken soup?

  25. Can you store magic mix in a jar with oxygen absorbers or seal it with a food saver for long term storage?

    1. Not with fresh butter.

  26. How would you make cream of tomato condensed soup. I usually dry tomatoes but I don’t know if this would work or not. Anyone know?

  27. I freeze the magic mix in small ziplock bags premeasured for use. I can throw left over chicken or rice and wild rice in the bag. Then I only need to cook some onion and celery in stock and add the prepared bag. Voila, creamy chicken wild rice soup. Easy enough for a husband to make.
