Okay, so you’d think I eat at Papa Murphy’s a lot more by how many pizzas I try to recreate of theirs….but then again maybe I don’t eat there as much because I make my own. 😉  However it works…I’m sharing it with you and that is the important part!  This pizza combines my two FAVORITE things, Mexican food and Pizza.  It may be against some sort of ethnic cooking policy to combine Italian with Mexican, but who cares!  It’s DELICIOUS! (and if you’re wondering, of course I put jalapenos on mine!)

Taco Pizza

Pizza Crust
Dehydrated Refried Beans (Hydrate them in 3/4 the amount of water called for, that is a little trick of mine.  It’s always easier to add a little more water in at the end then it is to add in more beans)
Cheddar Cheese
Taco Meat
Avocado
Tomatoes
Olives
Jalapenos
Green Onions
Canned Corn
…and any other favorite Taco toppings

The idea is to use the refried beans as the “sauce” then add any meat, cheese and any other toppings you like on your tacos and bake.  I like to serve sour cream and salsa as dipping sauces. So easy and SO DELICIOUS.  You’ve got to try it!

  1. My taco pizza is a copy cat of a Godfathers pizza we used to get in Alaska. You mix taco seasoning with a can of refried beans; spread that on your pizza crust; top with cheddar or jack cheese; bake and then top with sour cream, chopped lettuce, tomato, avacado, etc. Drizzle with taco sauce.

  2. I would be making this right now if I weren’t feeling so yucky, it looks amazing! Definitely my kind of pizza.

  3. Looks soooo good!

  4. What a clever idea to do a taco pizza! Looks delicious.

  5. i have issues with mixing distinctly different ethnic foods, but come to think of it, the pizza crust is the exact same thing as un-fried fry bread, making it totally acceptable. you could call it baked fry bread nite.

  6. Made this last night for dinner. I made my own crust, instead of buying one. We all thought it was great! My DH said he could eat this everynight….. I said maybe we could have it every friday night instead. ha ha
We will have the left overs for lunch after church tomorrow.

  7. Have you ever had a potaco? Basically it’s a taco on top of a baked potato. I thought it was crazy at first but it’s amazing how yummy it really is.

  8. I tried this tonight- it was yummy! Thanks for a great idea.

  9. Question about the crust: do you use your pizza crust recipe, or a store bought crust, and do you bake it before you add the toppings, then bake to warm up the toppings? How long and at what temp do you bake it? Wow, lots of questions there. LOL Thanks for your help. I am really good at making small mistakes that totally ruin a recipe, and since I LOVE pizza and Mexican food as well, this is one I don't want to goof on. ;o)
