2-ingredient, no churn, homemade cotton candy ice cream

Colorful, super delicious and easy to make this no-churn homemade cotton candy ice cream is a fun treat that your family will love.

There really isn’t anything like homemade ice cream.  It’s so creamy, but so many people think it’s out of reach because they don’t have an ice cream maker, but the truth is, you don’t need one!  This delicious, easy home-made, no churn, two ingredient ice cream take about 5 minutes to prepare and tastes so much better than anything you buy in the store (especially compare to those “frozen diary desserts” that masquerade as ice cream down the “frozen novelty” aisle…what even is that?!) And don’t even get me started on how much this is better than freeze-dried ice cream.  Maybe it’s the 120 degree summers, but I’m not about squeaky, crunchy ice cream! (Not to mention freeze-dried ice cream costs SIX TIMES the price of regular ice cream….but who’s counting?) The best part about this ice cream? You can make it entirely with your food storage!

Gossner Shelf-Stable Cream

The big secret is Gossner’s shelf-stable whipping cream (if you live in Utah, you can buy it from their store, or online HERE at the best price, or if you’re not in Utah, you can purchase it HERE) But the real trick is learning how to make a sweetened condensed milk substitute with your powdered milk. (You’re excited now, RIGHT?!) Finally a way to use that powdered milk!  (Just kidding, there are a lot of ways to use your powdered milk without gagging, just check out THIS POST (with video) 😉 And if you’re looking for those nice, disposable ice cream containers with lids, you can grab some for yourself HERE.

HOMEMADE SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK SUBSTITUTE WITH POWDERED MILK

Making your own sweetened condensed milk substitute is super easy!  For one can of sweetened condensed milk, just combine 1/2 cup hot water, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup powdered milk and 1 Tbsp. butter in a blender and blend until well combined. Honest!  It’s just that easy!  But really, the best part is the money and time you’ll save by not making a last-minute trip to the store along with paying a load of money for sweetened condensed milk (you can make it at home for about 75-cents!).  Just make sure you’re purchasing your powdered milk from the Home Storage Center (formally the LDS Cannery) for the best price and they deliver now!  It’s like President Hinckley always said, the simplest solution is always the best!

  2. I have used the condensed milk recipe for years and it works great. You can not tell the difference in recipes. Also it is a fraction of the cost.
