Well it came time to make some EZ Wheat bread.  I usually bake six loaves at a time and freeze the loaves but with it so hot, I did not want to heat up my oven!  Sun Oven to the rescue!

Now instead of baking 6 loaves, I can bake 2 and I made up a bunch of bread mixes for later use.  So my first time baking loaves of bread in the Sun Oven was a little hit and miss.  You can see my son’s mini loaf squeezed in there.  His loaf came out just perfect.  It was nice and blonde with no crust but cooked all of the way through.  Thankfully, we had some of that left over honey butter and that was divine!  But I chickened out on my other loaves because I didn’t want them to be undercooked.  So I put them back in and then my sister showed up so I sort of forgot about the bread.  WHOOPS!  I left it in for probably 20 minutes longer than I had intended.  But the good news was that it didn’t burn!  20 extra minutes in a regular oven would have turned the loaves into charcoal bricks.  It had a thicker crust then normal but the bread inside was still moist and delicious.  I’m really starting to realize that the Sun Oven really makes everything so moist and delicious.

  1. Yum, I just want to reach in and take a bite of that bread. I have also baked homemade wheat bread in my sun oven, I even used when it was raising by folding putting a piece of cardboard over the glass it kept the oven temp down until it was ready to bake.
