CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF THE GIVEAWAY!

Thank you for helping me spread the word about this! The five winners of a FREE copy were contacted by e-mail.

DO YOU LOVE BEANS?

Don’t you just L-O-V-E beans? Do you get stumped when thinking about what you can make with the beans in your food storage-besides a lot of chili? Are you not eating your three servings of beans a week that the National Dietetic Association recommends? Would you like to eat more fiber and protein instead of fat?

IS THIS EVERY DAY BEANS E-COOKBOOK FOR YOU?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then this e-cookbook is for YOU! Did you know that beans give you a lot of bang for your buck. They are low in cost, cholesterol free, low in fat, and high in fiber, protein, carbohydrate, folate, and many trace minerals. According to the Idaho Bean Commission, “Each half-cup serving of dry beans provides six to seven grams of protein, meets at least 10% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for protein, yet costs about 20 cents per serving.”

SO, WHY DO WE NOT EAT MORE BEANS?

Because it’s hard to think of ways to get those beans in our diet, I mean really you can only eat so much Mexican food and chili for dinner and when you think of having those three times a week it’s….well…blah.

THAT IS WHY I DID THIS E-COOKBOOK-TO HELP US GET ALL OF THE BENEFITS OF BEANS IN A WAY THAT WILL WORK!

The Every Day Bean e-Cookbook offers a very WIDE range of recipes including breakfasts, sides and salads, dinners, and desserts (yes, even desserts!) that will get you using beans every day and teach you how to successfully incorporate beans into your OWN recipes!

ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS I KNOW YOU’RE ASKING

Question: “Woah, back up…did you just say beans in desserts?
Answer:  YES! It’s true, you can easily replace butter and oil in baked goods with your beans.  There is no bean flavor to taste, promise!  It does, however, add moisture, fiber, and protein.  It’s also great for people with Type 2 Diabetes.  When I bake for my dad I love to do this because it helps his body digest the sugar better.

Question: “This sounds a lot like using applesauce-why would I start using beans when you can use applesauce the same way?”
Answer:  It’s simple really, if you’ve tried adding applesauce to brownies-you’ve probably noticed that it tastes like apple flavored brownies.  For me, personally, if I’m going to spend the calories on something like brownies it better taste like chocolate…and just chocolate.   The beans don’t change the flavor of how the baked good is SUPPOSED TO TASTE.  Also, applesauce (even unsweetened) has a lot of sugar.  The beans have very little sugar but are jam packed with FIBER and PROTEIN.  I can promise that you will actually feel FULL after eating a brownie or piece of cake made with beans instead of oil.

Question: “Well what about the dinner recipes, is it just a bunch of Chili/Soup and Mexican recipes?”
Answer: I realize that the first thing you think of when you think of a dinner with beans is a Chili/Soup or Mexican recipe so I went out of my way to put in out of the box ideas for dinner.  And for you chili lovers, don’t worry I have a couple of those for you too…but they aren’t the typical chili that you can buy in a can.

Question: “What type of beans did you focus on for this e-cookbook?”
Answer: I focused on the three easiest and most common types of beans in food storage: Pinto, White and Black beans.

Question: “How did you set this e-cookbook up?”
Answer: I set it up very similar to my Every Day Menu Planner.  It’s meant to be printed, put in page protectors and then in a binder.  That way you can have it as a working cookbook.  Feel free to change around the order and to add in your own successful recipes.  (If you already have my Every Day Menu Planner, you can easily just add this Every Day Bean Cookbook to it!)

Question: “So, how many recipes are we talking about?”
Answer: There are 90+ recipes in the four categories (breakfasts, sides & salads, dinners, and desserts) and each category is further divided into subcategories to keep everything organized for you.

Question: “Are the recipes simple to make and delicious to taste?”
Answer: You know they are!  I’m a busy mom like you and I don’t have a lot of extra time, but I can promise that these recipes are simple, the techniques doable, and they taste fabulous plus they will help you rotate your food storage!

Question: “Will the recipes also use other food storage items, or just beans?”
Answer: Of course!  If you can use food storage in other areas of the recipes, I’ve told you just how to do it!

Question: “Do you have helpful charts and tips in the beginning so I can learn how to use beans in my own recipes?”
Answer: YES!  You know me, I’m all about teaching you how to use food storage in your OWN recipes.  So I have essential tips for making you successful at using beans in your own recipes and a chart that will help you know what amount of dry beans to use in a recipe that calls for a can of beans.

Question: “Will I be receiving this in the mail?”
Answer: No, the beauty of an e-cookbook is that you don’t have to wait for it!  After you purchase the book, you’ll receive an email with a link to DOWNLOAD the book.

  1. Since we’re talking about beans….would love to know, perhaps even a blog post on how to can your own beans.  Rather than using the freezer to store pre-cooked bean, would be nice to have some pre-cooked ready to go from a jar in the pantry (instead of store bought). Any insight?  Just  purchased the e-book, and cant wait to try some of the recipes 🙂

    1. Sandy,  I have been home canning beans for a while now.  To a sterilized quart canning jar I add:

1 cup of washed beans (Navy, Great Northern, Pink, Red, etc)
      1 tsp Salt
Water to the bottom of the jar neck

Then I put a hot jar lid, screw ring down hand tight and pressure cook for 30 minutes at 10# pressure.   Turn off the stove and when the pressure in the canner gets to O  I remove the jars to a cookie sheet.  After the jars have been out of the canner for 24-36 hours I remove rings, wash jars, label lids and move jars to storage.

I hope this helps and/or answers your questions!!  🙂

We use the beans for many things (chili, Mexican dishes, side dishes, etc).  Now I’m going to be using them in the recipes from this new book.

      In His Service,
      Ginny

  2. Is there anyway to see a list of recipes there are so that I’m not buying a cookbook that will just be giving me some of the same recipes I already have?

  3. Crystal,  I have just purchased the bean ebook.  But I would like to also order the small group ebooks.  I would like to give them to daughters for Christmas.  (I would also like to do the fall ebook also, since I have that one) but when I try and put it in the cart  there is an error.
    Thanks!
    Patti

    1. You should buy one (at the $12) and then click the additional copy link so you don’t get charge an additional $12…additional copies are cheaper!

  6. Your book sounds great. Are all of the dessert recipes chocolate related? I am allergic to chocolate but would like to use beans in other desserts that are non-chocolate. Thanks!

    1. They are not all chocolate but maybe half of them are.

  7. I get where to purchase the additional copies, but I can’t find where to purchase the original copy!  Show me what I’m missing, if you please 🙂

    1. Click on the big picture. Thanks!

  8. $12 is kind of expensive for an email…

  9. Will this come out in paperback.  I find it easier when cooking to have a physical book to use rather than an ebook.

    Thanks

  10. Cooking beans suggestion: just put 2 cups sorted dry beans (rinsed in a colander) into a crockpot, add 5 to 6 cups water; cook on low for 7 hours or until tender.  Do not add salt: it inhibits beans from cooking to tender.  Also, eating beans regularly will usually help flatulence (byu study many years ago).

    Written in kindness but honesty:
I bought your bean cookbook.  It wasn’t what I expected.  Many recipes give either oil or equivalent in beans/puree; which is easy to translate on my own. I was also hoping for more variety with dinner recipes as already have chili, soup, bean pattie, bean/rice recipes of my own.  And what about lentils? They are beans and so good for us.
I do like your site and blog, it is good for beginners. But I didn’t buy your everyday food storage cookbook after looking at it in Deseret Books because I’m way ahead of where you’re at (40+ years of using and experimenting with my food storage)…..guess it’s the same with bean recipes: might be good for beginners.
If I had seen a list of what recipes were included, I would not have purchased the e-cookbook.

  11. I see you took off my comments.  Is that fair to others to not show both sides of the coin?  I can’t respect that.
