You know the kind that looks perfect, is soft and chewy, and tastes great with a little butter and homemade jam slathered in the middle?

Most people think dinner rolls are hard, but the truth is all you need is one incredibly delicious and simple recipe.  You know, one that doesn’t take a lot of ingredients or time.  One that is versatile enough to use for breadsticks, homemade pizza, cinnamon rolls, buns, freezer rolls…basically the perfect dough for all of your needs.

This week, I’m digging deep into my recipe arsenal and sharing with you my best dinner roll recipe of all time…you know the one people ask over and over to know.  It’s so simple, in fact, it can be done in under 30 minutes if you need it to be.  Plus, they are the perfect texture: soft, chewy, and melt-in-your-mouth type rolls…but the best part?  They are insanely easy to make, call for only 7 ingredients, and anyone can make them…especially YOU!!! Seriously, this is the PERFECT roll recipe.

Easy Dinner Rolls Anyone Can Make!!

This easy dinner roll dough is completely versatile (I use it for everything) and incredibly delicious!  They are the perfect texture: soft, chewy, and melt-in-your-mouth type rolls...but the best part?  They are insanely easy to make, call for only 5 ingredients, and anyone can make them...especially YOU!!!  Seriously, this is the PERFECT roll recipe.

  • Prep: 20 mins
  • Cook: 10 mins
  • Yields: 12 rolls

Ingredients

1 cup plus 2 Tbsp warm water

⅓ cup oil

1 Tbsp yeast

¼ cup sugar

½-1 tsp salt (depending on taste)

1 eggs

3½ cups flour

Directions

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine ingredients in the following order: water, yeast, sugar, oil, egg/egg powder and 3 cups of flour and salt.

3With a dough hook, knead ingredients for 10 minutes. If needed, add remaining flour 1/4 cup at a time. adding flour as needed.

4Allow dough to rest for 10 minutes.

5Shape dough into 16 balls and let rest for 10 minutes.

6Place rolls in a greased 9x13 pan or baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes until tops are golden brown.

**30 MINUTE ROLLS** To have these rolls ready in under 30 minutes, shape the dough right after the it is done kneading instead of resting it first.

  1. Your video indicates 1cup whole wheat flour and 2 cups total bread flour (1 1/2 c with the addition of another 1/2 cup in 1/4 cup increments). That comes to only 3 cups total flour. The recipe is showing 3 1/2 cups total flour.

    Or, is the difference in amounts due to the whole wheat or just a miscalculation?
