Wow, where has the time gone! I’ve had a very fun and busy filled past couple of weeks. It was wonderful…I got to soak in some time with my new baby nephew, attend a family wedding, visit my family in Southern California, do A LOT of solar cooking (more to come on that later), work on my new book (yes, you read the right…be very excited people it WILL be awesome!), and spend time with my most favorite people (one of whom got to meet his heros Elmo and Cookie Monster). Oh yes, and I may or may not have chopped my hair (EEK!).
Here I am getting ready to cook ribs in the Sun Oven with my brother.
All in all it was a great and well needed vacation. But the biggest surprise of all was waiting for me when I got home….
TA DA! Yes, that is my garden! I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. I’ve never had the plants in my garden get so huge. In fact the next day, I picked three zucchinis (one is already ready for zucchini bread) a shopping bag FULL of lettuce, radishes, beans and spotted at least FOUR cantaloupes, a couple watermelon, squash, huge crops of tomatoes and HUGE bell peppers. I was embarrassingly giddy for my whole neighborhood to see. I’m even having a newspaper article written about my food storage and they want to take a picture of me in my garden! What a perfect ending to a perfect vacation. Now for those of you who don’t remember what my garden looked like before I left here are the before shots…
THIS WAS ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND A HALF AGO…
HERE IT IS A WEEK BEFORE I LEFT…
I knew I was really grateful to Belinda at www.homegardenstogo.com but now I’m REALLY grateful. I’ve never left a garden for a few weeks and came back to something alive let alone something so wonderful! I’m definitely a believer and so excited to FINALLY have a great garden!
