Directions
1Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. (To melt the chocolate in the microwave heat for 1 minute at 50% power. Stir and heat again using 30 second intervals at 50% power until the chocolate is melted, be sure not to over cook!)
2Add shortening and stir.
3If you're going to have both pink and white popcorn, divide chocolate and popcorn in half and place into separate bowls. In one bowl of melted chocolate, add pink food coloring until desired color is reached.
4Pour one bowl of chocolate over one bowl of popcorn and stir. Turn out onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle generously with sprinkles. Repeat with the second bowl of chocolate and popcorn.
5Allow popcorn to dry for at least 15 minutes, ideally 2 hours works best.
HOW TO PERFECTLY POP POPCORN
You don't have to always buy that microwave stuff, it's entirely possible to pop popcorn at home perfectly just using your stove and a pot. Just heat 3 Tbsp. oil in a 3 quart pot and throw in a few kernels. Cover the pot and heat over medium heat until you hear the kernels pop. Remove from heat and add in 1/3 cup kernels, cover and count to 30 (this allows the kernels to heat up and the oil to cool down). Return to heat and wait for kernels to pop, once they start popping, keep moving the pot around and slightly vent the lid. After it's popped, cover with butter (if desired) and salt. Seriously, it'll be the best popcorn you've ever had!
