Okay, this is probably the world’s best kept secret! Balsamic Vinaigrette is really one of the easiest salad dressings to make and also one of the most expensive! I was shocked to see a high quality Balsamic Vinaigrette cost over $4! This homemade version cost no more than $0.75 and tastes so much better than any store bought version. There just isn’t anything like a fresh salad dressing (it’s sort of like fresh bread to me–store bought just never competes!). Plus, this is made entirely from your food storage: oil, vinegar, spices, and a little sugar, if you want, and that is it! It’s so easy. (Are you dreaming of planting your gardens yet to pair this with a fresh salad from your garden? It’s heaven, I’m telling you! For a fun variation you can make this same recipe with White Balsamic Vinegar and it makes it taste just like that really yummy Grand Parisian salad you can get at Costco, but for a fraction of the price! Let’s be honest, all that is in that bag for $4 is a bunch of cheap lettuce, 8 Craisins, a tablespoon of feta and some salad dressing. This is actually my most frequently made salad dressing, it’s entirely addicting! Try it if you dare, no I’m just kidding, of course you have to try this! It’s a game changer!

Okay, here is also where we need to talk appropriate bottles for doing vinaigrettes. The bottle you choose definitely needs to not leak because you will be shaking the bejeebers out of that bottle to work the oil, vinegar, and spices together. I use mason jars and am saving my pennies for this beauty! It helps keep you from dumping the entire jar of dressing on your salad (not going to lie, it’s happened a few times to me…whoops!) and makes it really easy to shake and store. Let me introduce you to the OXO Salad Dressing Shaker. It’s awesome and can be purchased from Amazon for only $14.95
