My Grandpa died today. Lucky for him, he gets to be with this great lady again-my wonderful grandmother. In thinking about his passing I figured it only right to pay tribute to him by writing a post about his favorite tool that got him out of many a pickle in his day-DUCK TAPE…and it’s many uses and why it should MOST DEFINITELY be in your 72 hour kit, in your car, and in your garage!  So let us all learn from one very wise man…

Top Reasons You should have Duck Tape in your 72 Hour Kit and Beyond:

  1. You can mend shoes.
  2. You can mend clothes with it.
  3. It’s great for holding cotton in place on blisters.
  4. It can help fix bumpers…or anything else falling off.
  5. It’s great for attaching dryer vents
  6. You can even make a wallet with it!
  7. Mythbusters proved you can make a boat with it (and a bridge for that matter)
  8. It can replace windows

If you really want to do it Grandpa style-you also throw in a little bailing wire to really make things work!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa :(. My grandpa, Glenn firmly believed that anything could be fixed with duct tape, bailing wire, and caulk. He was right! In our family we call this sort of fix-up Glennerizing :). It might not look so good, but it gets the job done!
Bless you! My goodness what a couple of weeks you’ve had…

  3. I’m so sorry for your loss.  He was a wise man, yes there isn’t much that can’t be fixed with duct tape or bailing twine.  My husband is a firm believer in using them.
When someone leaves us on this earth their love remains till we are reunited again.

Duct tape was a great invention!

  6. I’m truly sorry for your loss and wishing you and your whole family peace and comfort at this time!

  7. So sorry to hear of the loss of your grandpa. Your eulogy of him reminded me so much of my own maternal grandpa, who also enjoyed using duct tape & bailing wire. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. May our Heavenly Father grant you peace and comfort in your memories of your loved one.
