Don’t you just love creamy, chocolatey (is that a word?…if not, it should be…) desserts?
And don’t you also love desserts that are easy to make and completed in just minutes?
Which is exactly why pudding is awesome and why Jell-O has made a fortune taking the pudding process and simplifying it into a 5 minute creation. But did you know you can make homemade, from-scratch, out-of-this-world, chocolate pudding from your food storage and more specifically Magic Mix?
In case you don’t already know, Magic Mix is a simple mix of powdered milk, flour, and butter which will allow you to make cream soups, gravy, and yes…pudding!
You can also make this vanilla pudding by simply omitting the cocoa powder. As you can tell, this chocolate pudding is creamy, smooth and exactly how pudding should be…which is a million times better than the boxed stuff. Go ahead and give it a try, this chocolate pudding recipe is bound to be your family’s new favorite recipe.
And, of course, you can use this vanilla or chocolate pudding in any of your own recipes…instead of that boxed stuff.
Why replace the Jell-O box with Homemade Pudding?
- It tastes a million times better….seriously, you have to try it.
- You’ll be rotating your food storage easily.
- You have control over the ingredients (which by the way, are all ingredients you can pronounce)
- It’s cheaper….especially when you compare it to a box of “Simple” where the ingredients are more like homemade
- It’s just as fast and you can use it in your own recipes…Personally, I’m going to try it in homemade Chocolate Mousse next……yum!
So what are you waiting for? This homemade chocolate pudding recipe is easy, delicious, and a great way to rotate your food storage in a way your family will love you for!

The audio kept on going even though the video stopped and started several times. The two were not matched up. Consequently the audio finished before the video, so I didn’t get to see how the pudding was finished. Hopefully this is an easy fix and I can check it out another time. I’ve made up my Magic Mix and am excited to learn how to use it for pudding. Thanks for the great video about making cream soups with the Magic Mix. I appreciate all you’re doing to get me to use my food storage more. I’m subscribed to your videos which have been very helpful! Thanks!!
That was so weird, but it’s fixed now. Thanks!
Have you found a gluten free flour that works in the Magic Mix? thanks
Yes, cornstarch. It’s indicated in the original recipe. Good luck!
Hello! The video doesnt work! It talks but the image doesnt change!!
Can you give a weight for the powdered milk and flour in the magic mix recipe? What if you only have instant dry milk?
